In January for my 30th birthday Bill and me took a little trip to the big apple. I’m so glad we were able to make this trip happen.
Traveling has always been super important to me. Basically I couldn’t care less about designer anything- I love me some Target if you didn’t already know. But a good trip/ experience is my kryptonite. It’s what I love to anticipate and spend my money on.
So since it’s now March and I’m just now writing this I may have already forgotten some of the details- but the way I like to start planning a good trip is by hearing what other people liked about places they’ve been. So here’s our little 4 day NYC trip in a nutshell with some pictures of course. Maybe it will help you plan your trip! 😊
NYC in late January is one of the most affordable times to go there. Hotel rooms are at their least expensive and we chose to stay at The Edison which was just a couple blocks away from our main attraction of the trip. It is located right off of Times Square and right in the center of broadway. We chose a very basic room in the hotel. No frills, no bells and whistles. But there are nicer more updated rooms/ suites in the hotel if you want to drop the cash. We ate one morning at the the attached restaurant Friedman’s because we wanted to sit down and eat- which can be a novelty in New York.
The first night there we walked Times Square- went in the Disney store and bought our nieces souvenirs. We also had Shake Shack for the first time. I highly recommend the cheese fries.
The second day was my favorite and was spent seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts 1 & 2 😱…. this was the point of this trip. It’s all I wanted for my 30th birthday. This was my first broadway show and it did not disappoint in any way. The effects were so impressive and the actors and score were…. well you get the idea… I LOVED it.
We got some good pizza between part 1 & 2 of the show at a pizzeria right across the street from the lyric theatre. We had such a great experience at our first broadway show we tried to hurry up and snag some tickets on our last night to another show…. I had my eye on Hamilton or Waitress… but there were no shows for either that night. So we’ll just have to go back sometime!
The secondary goal of the trip was this bomb birthday cake from Milk Bar…..nuff’ said.
We spent our last day subway-ing out to ride the ferry to see lady liberty 🗽 since this was Bill’s first trip to NYC. We froze our butts off for these pictures but it was worth it.
The next big birthday trip we hope to take will be Bill’s 40th in 5 years (he hasn’t said where he wants to go yet) and my 40th in 10. 😬
So I’m already hoping for my 40th we can make it back to Hawaii because that’s my favorite place we’ve ever been. 🤞
